This set exists because of a commission. In the late 20th century, Royal Caribbean approached Kosta Boda — one of Sweden's oldest and most respected glass houses, founded in 1742 — to produce a signature martini glass for their fleet. The result was this: a wide-bowled coupe form on a cobalt blue stem and foot, hand-blown with a swirl of colour around the bowl interior and a single cobalt accent dot at the base of the bowl. Produced in limited quantities for the cruise line's exclusive use, they were not made for retail. When the commission ended, production stopped. They will not be made again.

This is a complete set of eight — two each in yellow, lime green, orange, and deep red swirl — all sharing the same cobalt blue base and rim that unifies the set across its four colour variations. The swirl pattern is applied during the blowing process, not painted on afterward: the colour is in the glass, not on it, which is why decades later the intensity remains unchanged.

As a working bar set they are exceptional — the wide coupe bowl is generous, the cobalt foot is weighted and stable, and the colour variation means eight guests each have a visually distinct glass without mismatched chaos. As a display object, eight arranged in a colour-paired arc on a sideboard or shelf is a composition that stops people mid-room.
