Tamegroute is a small town at the edge of the Draa Valley in southern Morocco, where the Sahara begins. It has been a centre of ceramic production for centuries — and the green glaze that comes from its kilns is unlike any other in the world. The colour is the result of local minerals, local clay, and a firing tradition passed down through generations of potters working in the same workshops their ancestors built. You cannot replicate it elsewhere. You cannot source it from a factory. It exists only here.

This candlestick is made from that clay, finished with that glaze. The form is architectural — a wide flared cup at the top to hold a taper candle, narrowing to a cylindrical stem, seated on a broader base. The green ranges across the surface from deep forest at the thicker glaze pools to a lighter celadon where it thins toward the edges, with the warm terracotta of the clay body showing through at the rim and base. Lit, the candle casts warm light down through the glaze. Unlit, it holds a shelf or table with the quiet authority of something that has been made the same way for a very long time.

Each piece is thrown and glazed by hand. The variations in colour depth, glaze distribution, and surface texture between individual candlesticks are not imperfections — they are the record of the process, the proof of the hand. No two are identical.

• Wipe with a soft damp cloth — mild soap if needed
• Do not submerge — unglazed areas of the clay base are porous
• Never leave burning candles unattended — standard taper candle safety applies
• Remove wax drips while still soft with a soft cloth — do not scrape the glaze surface
