Murano glassmaking is one of the oldest continuous craft traditions in the world. The island's masters have been blowing glass since the 13th century — and the techniques used to make these tumblers are essentially unchanged from that period. No moulds. No machines. A gather of molten glass on the end of a blowpipe, shaped by breath and hands and tools, with murrine — cross-sectioned glass canes, each one a tiny mosaic of colour — pressed into the surface one by one before the glass cools.

The result is what you see: six tumblers in a saturated amber-yellow, each carrying its own scattered constellation of millefiori murrine in red, blue, cobalt, white, and multicolour. Fine white and amber threads trace across the surface between them. Because no two gathers of glass behave identically, and because each murrine is placed by hand, no two glasses are the same. The six in a set share a family resemblance — same colour field, same general scale — but each one is its own object.

On a table, in sunlight, they are extraordinary. The amber glass transmits light differently at different times of day. The murrine catch it and hold it. Six of them together, filled with water or wine or juice, turn an ordinary table into something worth looking at.

Dishwasher safe — though hand washing will extend the brilliance of the surface over time. A certificate of authenticity is available on request.
