Ivory & Gold Suzani Cushion Cover | Hand-Embroidered Pomegranate Motif | Uzbek Boho Pillow | 20×20"
Description
HANDMADE: LEAD TIME UP TO TWO WEEKS
The pomegranate has been a symbol of abundance, fertility, and prosperity across Central Asia for over a thousand years. In Uzbekistan, it appears on architecture, on ceramics, on textiles carried into new homes as blessings. It appears here too — hand-stitched in gold and amber thread across an ivory cotton ground, five full fruit globes surrounded by climbing vines, teardrop leaves, and fine curling tendrils that fill every inch of the surface.
This is chain stitch and basma work — the same techniques Uzbek craftswomen have used for generations, stitched by hand, stitch by stitch, with natural cotton thread. The dimensional quality you see in the photograph is real: the embroidery sits proud of the ground, casting the faintest shadow, giving the surface a texture that photographs only approximate. In a room, it reads as something between textile and jewellery.
The colourway is quietly extraordinary — two tones of gold, warm amber and bright yellow, working together across the white ground. It catches light differently in the morning than it does in the evening. It pairs with everything from warm linen to dark velvet, and looks equally right on a contemporary sofa or a maximalist bed.
