Kosta Boda 'Filippa' Candlesticks | Kjell Engman | Signed | Set of 5 | Discontinued | Hand-Blown Art Glass
Description
LEAD TIME THREE WEEKS
Five candlesticks. Five colours. One designer, one series, one discontinued form that will not be made again.
The Filippa candlestick is Kjell Engman at his most architectural — a hand-blown glass column, striated with fine vertical colour threads wound into the clear glass shaft, sitting on a flat disc base and topped with a heavy clear bowl that holds a standard taper candle. The form is classical in its proportions: column, collar, cup. The colours are anything but: cobalt blue, emerald green, terracotta orange, lemon yellow, and deep violet-purple, each one a distinct shaft of striated colour that catches light differently depending on whether the candle is lit or unlit.
Lit, the striated threads glow from within and cast coloured light onto the surface beneath. Unlit, they read as five distinct sculptural objects — a complete spectrum arranged across a table or mantelpiece, each one signed on its base by Engman himself.
The Filippa series has been discontinued. These five, signed and in excellent condition, are what exists. There will not be more.
Sold as a complete set of five. Individual pieces are not available separately.
Please note: One-of-a-kind vintage set. Once sold, it cannot be restocked.

Styling notes
- Arrange all five in a descending or ascending height line along a dining table, mantelpiece, or console — the colour spectrum reads as a complete composition
- Lit with taper candles, the striated shafts cast coloured light onto surrounding surfaces — one of the few decorative objects that performs better in use than on display
- The terracotta orange connects to the Kjell Engman Bon Bon vase; the lemon yellow to the Margarita shot glasses — displayed in the same room, the three Engman pieces form a coherent collector's statement
- Works in maximalist, Scandinavian, mid-century, and eclectic interiors — the full spectrum palette is the point; it does not need to match, it needs to lead
- An exceptional housewarming, anniversary, or collector's gift — signed, discontinued, and complete
Care
- Wipe with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth — do not submerge
- Never leave burning candles unattended — standard taper candle safety applies
- Remove any wax drips while still soft with a soft cloth — do not scrape the glass surface
- Keep away from direct sustained sunlight to preserve colour thread integrity over time
- Handle with care and always lift from the base — the collar joint between shaft and cup is a point of vulnerability in vintage blown glass
- Store upright, not inverted or stacked
