Terracotta Moroccan Sabra Cushion Cover | Handwoven Cactus Silk Berber Throw Pillow | 20×20
Description
In the Atlas Mountains, Berber weavers have been making textiles like this one for generations. The fibre comes from Saharan aloe vera — harvested, processed, dyed with botanical pigments, then sun-bleached until it reaches that particular quality of warmth that no factory can replicate: ancient-feeling and completely alive at the same time.
This cover is hand-loomed on a traditional loom. Then, once the ground is woven, a second pair of hands embroiders the Berber symbols — the starred cross, the arrow, the zigzag border, the stacked triangles at the corner. Each symbol carries meaning accumulated over centuries: protection, fertility, nature, memory. They're not decorative additions. They are the work.
The terracotta ground is achieved through vegetable dye and controlled sun exposure — a process that produces the characteristic sun-faded patina you can see in the photograph. It ages further with time and light, which is to say it only gets better.
No two covers are identical. The one you receive will carry its own arrangement of symbols, its own texture, its own story. That's not a compromise. That's the point.
